York is famously renowned for having spent the last two thousand years being pillaged by romans, Vikings, Normans and American tourists, and it's easy to understand why! This beautiful town not only proudly maintains it's long-established role as one of the country's most historically, significant and picturesque cities, it has also been developed from an olde worlde 'Theme Park' into a modern, fashionably vibriant city whilst managing to retain it's historical presence.

York's stylish, contemporary bars and restaurants now compete with the traditional, old man style pubs in this beautiful town, yet whilst it's not hard to find and old man in a flat cap, he'll probably be sipping martini's as supping ale. 

York's shops are certainly to be experienced. Even though there are more tacky shops in one road of York than possibly the whole of the UK, there are also some fabulous boutiques to enjoy wandering around.

Spring time in york is the beginning of a series of lively events, exciting festivals and of course the start of York’s famous racing meetings on May 14th. If you are a keen horse racing fan, York has one of the most fabulous race courses in England.
