Tallinn is one of the best preserved medieval towns in Northern Europe, Estonias human-scale capital of Tallinn rarely fails to make a favorable first impression. The old towns rough-paved alleys, slender steeples and barrel shaped towers are straight from the pages of a medieval illustrated manuscript.
Tallinn really does have it all, with a population of over 400,000 people, a great deal of them are georgeous ladies so there will certainly be no lack of eye candy on your stag weekend!
Tallinn is very cheap for food and alcohol with Estonia being one of the cheapest countries in europe and Tallinns old town really could have been made solely for drinking with its narrow, winding streets lending themselves perfectly to all manner of smokey dens and laid-back pubs.
Many bars feature DJs or live bands at the weekends, making them a good alternative if you'd rather not go along to any of the local clubs. If you do fancy clubbing it, you can get a good idea of whats hip and happening in Tallinn by looking out for street posters or flyers in internet cafes to find out whats new and going on in any given week. A pint of local brew - Saku Originaal and A. le Coq Premium are the two local favourites - usually runs between 25 and 35 kroon (£1 - £1.50). Nightclubs in Tallinn open their doors at 10 or 11pm, but they only really get going sometime after midnight. On Fridays and Saturdays clubs stay open until 4 or 6AM.
Tallinn is great for extreme sports so what better place to have your stag weekend than here. From quad biking to KGB pistol shooting, Tallinn offers a massive amount of adrenaline charged activities to keep your stag party entertained. The standard Stag do crowd pleasers are all on offer here: 4x4 driving, Karting, Clay Pigeon Shooting and pretty much anything else you can think of. If you're after something a little more unique, Tallinn comes up trumps too: Witness a stripper while travelling about in a Hummer; organise for the Stag to be kidnapped and banged up in an old Russian jail or participate in a hair-raising parachute jump.
Tallinn climate is characterised by a fairly cold winter, a cool spring, a moderately warm summer and a long and rainy autumn. However, some summers have weeks at a stretch of temperatures around +30° C, and a warm, sunny summer can keep autumn at bay until mid-October.
Tallinn have recently jpoined the EU, however, the national currency is the Estonian kroon (EEK). £1 = 22EEK (approximate).
Buses, trolleys and trams operate regularly in Tallinn. Make sure that you either have a valid ticket before getting on public transport or that you buy one from the driver immediately upon entering. If you need to buy a ticket, enter at the front door; tickets are only sold at stops, not while the vehicle is moving. Note that tickets bought from the driver are more expensive (15 EEK) than those bought at a newsstand (10 EEK).
Taxis can be also ordered by phone or hailed on the street. The price list for taxi services is determined by the taxi operator; that is, prices are not uniform for all taxis. In order to avoid misunderstandings, be sure that the approximate cost of the trip to your destination is clear in advance.
